THE Manila Electric Company (Meralco) recently participated in the 2025 mock elections organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in a bid to ensure reliable and stable electricity service for the upcoming May 12 midterm polls.

Meralco crews and personnel simulated quick response measures to possible power service troubles that may emerge during the elections.

These include downed electricity lines, loadside trouble, and fire-related outages.

For the upcoming elections, the distribution utility will deploy generator sets and flood lights in strategic areas to complement the readiness of Meralco crews and personnel who will be on standby 24/7 throughout the election process.

Since November 2024, Meralco has been coordinating with the COMELEC in preparation for the elections—recognizing the critical role electricity service plays in ensuring the success of the democratic exercise

Meanwhile, Meralco and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), the Philippine government’s primary intelligence gathering and analysis arm, have reinforced their commitment to enhance cybersecurity measures as part of efforts to unify an intelligence community to promote a stronger and safer nation.

During a recent visit to the power distributor’s headquarters, Meralco and NICA pledged to work closely together for intelligence sharing, technology transfer, and the establishment of institutional partnerships and long-term collaborations that transcend political cycles to ensure continuity beyond leadership change.
