THE competition for the mayoral position in Pasig City is becoming increasingly competitive, with newcomer Sara Discaya rapidly gaining traction among voters. Currently, she is only two percent behind the incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto, according to the most recent survey conducted under the title “Pulso ng Lipunan.”

This independent survey, conducted in February 2025, sampled participants from over half of the barangays in Pasig City. Out of the 3,000 respondents, 46% indicated their intention to vote for Mayor Sotto, while 44% expressed support for Ms. Discaya. Additionally, 3% of respondents conveyed their preference for alternative candidates, while the remaining 7% have yet to make a definitive choice.

The “Pulso ng Lipunan” survey is designed to capture the sentiments and candidate preferences of the voting public through a series of targeted questions. This approach encourages registered voters to contemplate their reasons for supporting specific candidates, rather than simply inquiring, “Who will you vote for?” The survey addresses the fundamental needs of ordinary citizens in relation to candidates’ competencies. The primary areas of focus include health, food security, employment, infrastructure, and education.

The recent shift in public sentiment indicates a substantial transformation in the political landscape of the city. Discaya is steadily gaining support and is strategically positioning herself to assume a leading role in the mayoral race for the upcoming May 2025 midterm elections.

There is a notable increase in support among voters for Discaya as a promising candidate for the upcoming leadership position in Pasig City.

The residents of Pasig are actively evaluating the selection of a new leader capable of addressing the needs and expectations that have been neglected by the current local government.

Despite being one of the wealthiest municipalities in Metro Manila, Pasig City has unfortunately been overlooked by the existing leadership, which appears to prioritize celebrity status over effective governance.
