
MARBIL ORDERS MINOR PNP CHANGES
PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil on Thursday designated five third-level officials to new positions of major responsibility in the 232,000-strong force, the Journal Group learned.
The first to be made by the new top cop since he assumed his position last Monday, the reorganization saw Brigadier Gen. Nicolas D. Torre of PNP Academy ‘Tagapaglunsad’ Class of 1993 being named as the acting director of the Communications and Electronics Service effective April 5. Torre used to be a Quezon City Police District director,.
Brig. Gen. Nicolas S. Salvador, also of PNPA Class 1993, was designated as acting director for Plans while Colonel Edwin DL Portento of PNPA ‘Patnubay’ Class of 1995 was named as acting PNP Intelligence Group director.
Salvador and Portento were the erstwhile deputy directors of the PNP-DPL and PNP Retirement and Benefits Administration Service respectively.
At the same time, Brig. Gen. Jay R. Cumigad was designated as the acting PNP Deputy Director for Plans while Col. William H. Segun was named as acting executive officer of the same unit. Cumigad and Segun are both from PNPA Class 1995. They are the former PNP-DPL Executive Officer and PNP Highway Patrol Group deputy director respectively.
Torre took over as the new PNP-CES director vice Brig. Gen. Prexy D. Tanggawohn who was named as new Bangsamoro Administrative Region Police Regional Office director by former PNP chief Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. last March 26 or five days before he ended his extended term.
Tanggawohn of PNPA ‘Tagapagkalinga’ Class of 1991 replaced his classmate, Brig. Gen. Allan C. Nobleza, who was named by Acorda as the new PNP Director for Information Communications and Technology Management.
Col. Portento replaced Col. Noel B. Ponollera of PNPA ‘Kaagapay’ Class of 1996 who was also designated as PNP-IG director last March 20 by the former PNP chief vice Brig. Gen. Romeo G. Macapaz, another PNPA Class 1995 member.
