Maragondon mayors bares accomplishments

MARAGONDON, Cavite — Mayor Lawrence “Umbe” Arca bares his achievements during his two-year tenure as local chief executive during his State-of-the-Municipal-Address (SOMA) on Friday at the Municipal Covered Court in Bgy. Poblacion.

In his report, for the total of two years in office as local chief executive, he allocated funds for infrastructure projects such as access roads, multi-purpose hall and day care centers in Kaingen, Poblacion 1-A, 1-B and 2 -A, 2-B, Brgy. Bucal, Tulay B, and Talipusngo.

He also arranged a cemetery to give a decent burial to the less fortunate.

Arca also mentioned the electrification program in Bgy. Pantihan Pantihan 1, 2, 3 and Bgy. Bridge B. and the putting up of street lights throughout the town.

The mayor also turned over six brand new ambulances to his constituents.

During his 32 years in public service, he ensured that he would provide a quality service to the people of Maragondon.

Arca also reported the Buhay Ingatan Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) campaign, in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cavite, that made Maragondon a drug-cleared town.

During his SOMA, he reported the Assistance to Individuals in Crisiis Situation (AICS) payout for almost 3,000 citizens, with the help Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Agimat Partylist Congressman Bryan Revilla.

Arca said of the total number of beneficiaries, 1,856 were senior citizens, 550 senior high graduates, 244 person’s with disabilities (PWDs), and 348 were from TODA .

A “Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay” bloodletting activity project, meanwhile, was held in collaboration with the Rural Health Unit during the event.

Hundreds of residents benefited from the medical and dental mission launched on June 25 at the town plaza covered court.

A Cavite Career Caravan Maragondon-leg was also conducted, wherein the Cavite Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) opened jobs for the locals and abroad during a Job Fair held, in collaboration with various companies in the province and the national agencies such the SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig, TESDA, OWWA, BIR, PSA, NBI and DOLE in June 26.

On June 27, a “Kasalang Bayan” was held.

Meanwhile, 100 young PWDs were brought by the local government unit to the Manila Ocean Park for a treat.
