Man who raped, impregnated neighbor falls
AFTER more than 12 years in hiding, a man who was accused of raping and impregnating his neighbor in Albay province on Tuesday was arrested by the police in Subic, Zambales.
Suspect Irvin Bobis, a 45-year-old resident of Bgy. Matain in Subic was caught in his house by members of the Subic Municipal Police Station on the strength of a warrant of arrest for two counts of rape issued by Judge Edwin Ma-alat of the Ligao City Regonal Trial Court and another warrant issued by Judge Alben Grabe of the Ligao City RTC.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Zambales Police Provincial Office director Col. Romano Cardiño said Bobis is the no. 1 most wanted person in Polangui, Albay.
Members of the Subic police led by Maj. San Juan Felmar Aquino and the Polangui Municipal Police Station led by Lt. Col. James Ronatay conducted the successful manhunt operation.
A record check showed that the suspect and his victim were among several persons who had drinks in their neighborhood in Polangui on the day the sexual act was committed in 2012. The two later attended a dance party in their community before the suspect allegedly demanded sex with the victim. When the victim got pregnant, she asked the suspect to support their baby but the man refused, prompting her to file a criminal case for rape against him. The suspect went into hiding in different parts of Zambales since January 2012.
