A 35-year-old man was held under police custody after he was caught in a motel with a 14-year-old girl whom he met online through the online gaming app “Mobile Legends”.

The suspect was apprehended inside the motel located along West Point Street in E. Rodriguez, Q.C., by members of the ACG Q.C. District Anti-Cybercrime Team led by Lieutenant Michael Bernardo, the official said.

The suspect was caught in a motel along West Point street with the victim, whom he first met through the said online game, where they are both players.

Investigation showed the operation was in response to the complaint from the victim’s mother, who learned the suspect and her daughter were having an affair online.

It was learned that girl’s mother discovered the illicit affair after she saw the victim chatting with the suspect, wherein the two shared sensitive photographs on Snapchat and Facebook messaging applications.

Last September 6, the mother of the victim saw her daughter chatting with the suspect in the middle of the night. When she saw the exchange of conversations between the two, she was shocked and confronted her daughter.

Police set up an entrapment operation wherein the victim agreed to meet with the suspect to watch a movie at a mall in Cubao.

However, instead of watching a movie, the suspect took the girl to a fast food restaurant and later to a motel, where he was apprehended.

Police urged parents to monitor the online activities of their children regularly.

The suspect is now under the custody of the QCDACT and facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, RA 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 and Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, all in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
