Mammoth crowd kicks off UniTeam swing across N. Samar
BORONGAN, Samar — Despite heavy downpour, the people here welcomed the UniTeam tandem of former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and its senatorial candidates.
Marcos led the team in its campaign sortie in the Easter Samar.
Mayor Sara was represented by Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
In his speech, Dela Rosa urged the people to vote for Marcos and Duterte to ensure the programs’ continuity of the Duterte administration.
The Senator also said Mayor Sara will be a good addition to Marcos’ team because she will support the presidential candidate’s major plan to help Filipinos recover from the devastating effects of pandemic and address other problems besetting the nation.
The presidential daughter is running under Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
The team conducted mini rallies in Catbalogan and Catarman.
After the rally in Borongan, the group proceeded to Biliran.
Marcos and his team members took turns in addressing a mammoth assembly at the University of Eastern Philippines grandstand here.
Rain-soaked supporters trooped to the UEP Grandstand and waited as early as 6 a.m. to hear Marcos and other candidates speak.
It was vice gubernatorial candidate Capo Carpio, a former Catarman mayor, who introduced Marcos Jr. to his constituents.
Carpio highlighted UniTeam’s message of unity.
He said BBM continues to enjoy wide voter support despite concerted efforts to bring him down.
He told the crowd: “Ang pinakahihintay nating lahat.
Carpio is running for governor under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political group to which BBM belongs.
Marcos and Mayor Sara have agreed to split up in the homestretch of the election campaign so they could revisit more areas and reach out to remote communities.
Mayor Sara has said they maintain a “running scared mindset” despite the huge survey lead they enjoy over their opponents.
A grand rally in Tacloban City is set today to be hosted by Majority Leader Martin Romualdez.
