SUPREME actress Lovi Poe will now be seen on Primetime Bida starting this Monday, November 7, with the telecast of her highly acclaimed series, “Flower of Evil”.

The series was first aired on Viu channel and Lovi received glowing reviews for portraying Iris Castillo-del Rosario in the Philippine adaptation of the Korean hit show. The series was Lovi’s first series for the Kapamilya network. It also marks Lovi’s first entry in the suspense – mystery and action genre.

“At least for the duration of this series I got to fulfill my dream of being an Action Queen”, says Lovi.

Lovi could not forget the fact that the people on the set started calling her “LPJ” or “DA Queen” in reference to her father, FPJ.

“ I really enjoyed having that illusion, even if it was just the duration of the taping of the series”, the actress jokingly declares.

As a police detective, Lovi was required to do a lot of stunts in the action sequences, fight scenes, chase scenes, and instead of a handbag or a purse, her accessory this time was a hand gun.

“I’m really proud of our show, and I hope that the television viewers will love it as well. I am truly grateful for having the best production staff, directors and a wonderful cast”, admits Lovi. “I truly loved working with all my co actors in the show because they were all extremely dedicated to the project. Piolo Pascual, my leading man, who did his best and was very supportive and encouraging, and so were Paulo Avelino who delivered a great performance as the root of all evil, the same goes for the rest of my co-stars.”

Lovi will return from the US soon because she will show another side of her personality with her musical skills to our fellow kababayans abroad, as she takes part in “Asap NatinTo” at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

“Flower of Evil” on Primetime Bida starts this Monday, November 7, 9:30 PM at the Kapamilya Channel, Jeepney TV, A2Z and TV 5. The series also stars JC De Vera, Denise Laurel, Agot Isidro, Joem Bascon, Joross Gamboa, Rita Avila, Jett Pangan and Edu Manzano.

GMA originals vs adaptations

IT’S obvious that the shows of GMA are rating higher when they show original material, like “My Husband’s Lover”, “Ika-6 na Utos”, “Apoy sa Langit”, “Meant to Be”, “First Yaya”, “Lolong” and “Maria Clara at Ibarra”. These shows rated better than the adaptations of Koreanovelas that they have done. So, tigilan na muna ang local versions ng foreign shows at mag-original na lang lagi.

Lower cinema ticket does the trick

WHEN we watched “Black Adam” at SM North, we were surprised as there were long long lines of viewers lining up in the ticket booth. It’s good we’re a senior citizen so we were given special priority.

It turns out that the majority of people lining up for tickets were not watching Black Adam at IMAX like we did, as it’s almost P600 per person. They are watching the various horror flicks offered by SM Cinemas as a special Halloween presentation at a very much discounted price of only P150 per person. Some viewers are getting tickets to two movies no less, like they’re watching a double program.

This shows that the price factor is really a big reason why viewers are no longer flocking to theaters like they used. Ticket prices now range from P300 to P500, which is definitely beyond the range of a regular wage earner’s buying capacity. They’d rather use that amount to buy rice and other goodies that will put food on their table.

In the U.S., they’ve offered special sale for movie tickets to entice audiences to return to cinemas and looks like it’s working for them. So that should be a cue to our producers and theater owners.
