Laguna, Iloilo City, CDO downgraded to MECQ

MALACANANG yesterday announced that the COVID-19 lockdown in Laguna, Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro will be downgraded starting August 16.

Palace spokesman Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte approved the three areas’ shift to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine from the strictest four lockdown level Enhanced Community Quarantine from August 16 to 31.

MECQ is the second toughest lockdown level.

Laguna, Iloilo City and Cagayan de Oro are under ECQ until August 15.

Roque said Metro Manila remains under ECQ until Aug. 20 while Bataan is under the same lockdown level until Aug. 22.

The Palace spokesperson added that the areas placed under MECQ from Aug. 16 to 31 are Bulacan, Cavite, Aklan, Apayao, Cebu City, Ilocos Norte, Iloilo Province, Lapu-Lapu City, Lucena City, Mandaue City and Rizal.

Batangas, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Quezon and Naga City in Luzon; Antique, Bacolod City and Capiz in Region 6; and Negros Oriental and Cebu in the Visayas; and Zamboanga del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, and Butuan City in Mindanao will be under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions on the same dates.
