Laguna cops gun down drug suspect, 2 fall
A GUNFIGHT between undercover officers and an armed drug suspect in San Pedro City in Laguna early morning Sunday resulted in the killing of the suspect, and the arrest of his two cohorts, Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio told the Journal Group.
The official said that two cohorts of the slain suspect with the alias “Ulo” were arrested during the anti-narcotics operation in Sitio Rustan in Barangay Langgam in San Pedro City around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.
The official said that members of the San Pedro City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) led by Captain Jan Ricote conducted the sting under the supervision of local police chief Lt. Col. Victor Ben Isidore Aclan.
Silvio said that before the firefight, the San Pedro City policemen had already arrested the two suspects when the slain drug suspect fired shots at them while hiding in a nearby grassy area.
The suspect hit one of the plainclothes officers in his right hand before other operatives returned fire, killing the former on the spot. The wounded cop was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol with defaced serial numbers and a magazine containing two live ammunition, a coin purse with seven 9mm bullets, another purse containing five plastic sachets of shabu, a plastic box with 12 plastic sachets containing the same prohibited drug and P1,300 in different denominations.
He said the drugs recovered from the suspect weighed 50 grams and were valued at P340,000.
On the other hand, the two other suspects yielded five plastic sachets of shabu, the marked money, and P200 in cash.
Silvio said that last Thursday, they also accounted for 22 wanted persons in the province, two of them included in the regional level most wanted list; one in the provincial level MWP (most wanted person) list; four in the city/municipal MWP list; and 15 others.
“We accounted for the 22 as a result of our ‘Warrant Day’ in which all our operatives focus their effort in accounting for persons with existing warrants of arrest for various crimes issued by local courts,” said the official.
Silvio said that two of those arrested were both residents of San Pedro City facing non-bailable warrants of arrest for rape.
