‘Kelra’ downplays historic performance in M6 championship
DUANE “Kelra” Pillas is refusing to consider himself as one of the bests in the MLBB Esports even after a historic performance in the M6 World Championship that saw him become the first ever player to win Finals MVP in all major Moonton-sanctioned events.
Already with Finals MVP award in MSC during his time with Execration, Kelra won the same plum in the MPL Philippines Season 14 and M6 Worlds while guiding his Fnatic Onic Philippines to its first local and international titles.
“Di pa siguro (one of the bests),” said Kelra.
“Yung ibang tinatawag na GOAT sobrang dami nang champion like si Karltzy, dalawa yung M-world nya kumbaga. Siguro maco-consider mo na parang GOAT kumbaga kapag two-time MPL, two-time MSC and two-time M-world dun ko lang macoconsider,” he added.
Still, there was no doubt that Kelra had put up one of the finest performances in the world’s grand finals stage, wreaking havoc on his Bruno picks in the first two games, his signature hero Beatrix in Game 4 and the title-clinching Irithel in Game 5.
His back-door play during a huge team fight in the final moments of Game 5, when only two FNOP players were alive, secured the PH representatives a historic sweep of the tournament and the country’s fifth-straight world title.
“Sinugal ko na lang ‘yung play, tinanong ko rin sila, sabi ko lang nung una habang nasa team fight na tatapusin ko,” Kelra said, recalling the final play where he went for the base push, capping a dominant 4-1 victory over Team Liquid Indonesia.
“Di ako nag-hesitate nun, sadyang nawalan lang ng (minions). Nung nakita ko na may (minions) na ulit, bumalik ako para tapusin ulit,” he added.
In all, Kelra led the way for the Filipinos, registering a whopping 76 percent win rate through the 21 games played in M6.
He registered 107 kills in total, 109 assists and 10.9 KDA ratio all while displaying versatility on the gold lane with nine unique hero picks – including the surprise Layla pick against North America’s BloodThirstyKings during the Swiss stage.
By becoming the Finals MVP, a skin will be released for Kelra’s hero of choice and inspired his M6 performance.
