It’s Palm Sunday
CHRISTIANS across the Philippines troop to churches today, April 13, to celebrate Christendom’s Palm Sunday.
It is the first day of Holy Week in the Christian calendar.
On this day, parishioners mark the blessing of palm branches to commemorate triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
It is a time of solemnity and devotion to the passion, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ more than two thousand years ago.
Waving palm fronds and chanting “hosanna, hosanna,” Jesus Christ’s followers hailed His entry into the city.
Palm Sunday is also the start of the final week of the Lenten Season, the 40-day period for reflection.
It is a week before Easter Sunday, when Christ rose from the dead as written in the Old Testament.
Christians across the globe, including Filipinos, believe that there is life after death.
“Ito ang turo sa Bibliya na nagpapalakas ng loob sa mga Kristiyano na gumawa ng mabuti habang nabubuhay,” said a prayer warrior of the Roman Catholic Church.
Hopefully, today’s politicians, notably those seeking public posts in this forthcoming elections, will refrain from violating our election laws.
Instead of engaging in vote-buying, they should focus on doing things that strengthen our electoral system.
Sa Semana Santa ngayon, dapat lahat tayo ay magmuni-muni at magsisi sa ating mga kasalanan.
