Isko to minors: Don’t bring COVID home, stay indoors
CITY residents aged 17 and below were called upon by Mayor Isko Moreno to be responsible enough as not to bring home to their elderly housemates the deadly COVID-19 infection or spread the virus within their respective communities by heeding government advise for them to stay indoors.
During his live broadcast, Moreno reiterated that as part of high-risk age groups, youngsters must stay home instead of roaming freely outside of residence, exposing themselves and their loved ones to the coronavirus which continues to claim lives in the country.
Moreno said the youth can help the national and local governments as well as the country in fighting the pandemic just by heeding the call for them to remain within their homes as dictated by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) rules.
The mayor told youngsters that they have their whole lives ahead of them and would still be able to do everything they want to do and grab every opportunity for a better life once the pandemic is over.
He said they should not look at the regulations as a curtailment of their right or freedom since it is for their own good and the good of the entire country.
Instead of wasting their time outside of their homes and violating the regulations, Moreno said the youngsters can instead help in the household chores and be responsible citizens for themselves, their families and their communities.
The mayor stressed that the figures he cites in his daily live broadcast clearly state that COVID-19 remains in our midst, infecting people and even claiming precious lives.
“Wag sana ninyo masamain pag pinagsasabihan kayo ng inyong mga magulang, barangay o pulis dahil para ito sa kabutihan ng lahat Konting tiis lang, kakampi ninyo ang panahon,” he said.
Under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), only individuals aged 18 to 65 are allowed to leave their places of residence, but with heightened restrictions.
