Isko prohibits sale of COVID vaccines

Thus declared Mayor Isko Moreno, as he vowed that he will not allow the sale of anti-COVID-19 vaccines within the city of Manila by any private organizations, individuals or companies.
Moreno even offered to provide the necessary number of doctors and nurses to serve as vaccinators, as well as encoders and other personnel that may be needed for mass inoculation that a private company may want for their employees.
The mayor added the vaccinating teams will be provided by the city government for free, noting that they will take on the job as public servants.
‘Any organization or kompanya, hindi ko papayagan to exploit the situation. Not on my watch. Hindi ko hahayaan na gahasain ninuman ang kahinaan ng taumbayan to access the vaccines. Kaya nga di kami nagpapahinga, nagkukumahog kami by reaching out to as many as possible,” Moreno stressed.
The mayor called on private organizations, individuals or companies who bought vaccines to give them for free to their employes instead of applying the salary deduction scheme or making them pay.
He also warned the public against falling prey to those who falsely claim that they will be charging not for the vaccines but just to recover the cost or administration expenses.
“No company, person or organization can sell the vaccine. Panawagan ko ‘to ha. Magpapasa kami ng batas sa Maynila laban sa mga nagpapabayad ng bakuna. Ipakukulong ko talaga kayo,” an irked Moreno stated.
According to the mayor, the vaccines must be made accessible to everyone and that while the private sector is being allowed to acquire doses, the purpose is for them to provide for their own workers free of charge.
“Hindi dapat for a fee or salary deduction, kasi mae-expose tayo sa ibang bansa na ginagawang enterprise ang kahinaan ng mga tao. Naitala ang bakuna as EUA (emergency use authorization) and not as CPR (certificate of production) registration na puwede na for commercial use,” he explained.
