Inspection at NAIA-T3
TRANSPORTATION Secretary Vince Dizon and Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado recently led an early morning surprise inspection at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to ensure the continuous improvement of airport operations and passenger services.
The inspection, conducted alongside key officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), BI, and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), reflects the administration’s whole-of-government approach in addressing long-standing issues in the country’s main gateway.
In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to uplift the travel experience of both Filipinos and foreign visitors, Viado emphasized that the BI supports the national government’s efforts to modernize the airport and ensure comfort, convenience, and security for all passengers.
“We are determined to show that change is happening at our airports. What we saw today was encouraging, and we will continue working to fix bottlenecks, upgrade systems, and respond to the needs of travelers,” said Viado.
The Commissioner noted that immigration counters were fully manned during the inspection and that BI operations were running smoothly.
“Our officers have remained consistent in delivering efficient frontline service. We were able to continue the improvement of our systems despite the challenges, and the President’s support for modernization has allowed us to strengthen our presence and operations at NAIA,” said Viado.
The BI also deployed an additional 19 new immigration officers at the frontlines to complete the roster of personnel assigned at NAIA.
