In-demand workers
THE national government’s highly-successful and dollar-oriented overseas employment program remains a top priority of the administration of President Marcos.
It is certainly heartening to know that the Marcos administration is trying hard to generate more quality and high-paying local jobs.
“Sa totoo lang, ang gusto natin ay huwag na tayong mangibang-bansa para lang kumita ng malaki-laki para makapag-aral sa kolehiyo ang ating mga anak,” a former OFW said.
We agree with well-meaning government officials when they said that “darating rin ang araw na magiging choice na lang ang pangingibang-bansa para tayo’y umasenso.”
In the meantime, however, President Marcos is out to create more jobs from Batanes in the North to Sulu in Mindanao to meet the employment needs of the Filipino people.
At present, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) records show that domestic helpers or household workers and call center agents are in great demand in the country.
The Bureau of Local Employment said that other in-demand workers during the October 16-20 period were executive assistants, customer service assistants and production workers.
BLE, which is under the DOLE, said that during the five-day period, there were 16,421 job vacancies in various parts of the country, including impoverished Mindanao.
Of the number, 5,761 vacancies were for household workers, while 4,886 and 2,376 were for call center agents and executive assistants, respectively.
We, thus, commend the Marcos government, through concerned offices, for promoting the manpower export industry, while generating more quality local jobs.
