Imee told: Success of PBBM is success of PH
A RISING tide lifts all boats, so to speak.
This was the gentle reminder posed by a top official of the House of Representatives to Sen. Imee Marcos, who has been creating concerns about President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s open declaration of support to amend specific restrictive economic provisions of the Constitution.
“Kung ako si Senator – kapatid pa naman si Sen. Imee, tutulungan ko [ang PBBM admin] kasi the success of his brother is the success of our country and this only the economic provisions and there is no political. So iyon po ang puwede kong masabi. We will follow the President [on amending the restrictive economic provisions of the Constitution],” Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. told a press conference Wednesday.
“The policies set out by the President are aimed at improving the lives of all 114 million Filipinos, and not just a few. As the idiomatic expression goes: A rising tide lifts all boats,” Gonzales remarked in an ambush interview.
“We’re all on the same boat or cruise ship called M/S Philippines. Why can’t she just help her brother succeed?” Gonzales asked. “President BBM is the duly-elected President of the Republic with a resounding 31 million votes – the highest in history.”
“That’s nearly half of the country’s voting population of 67 million,” he noted.
“If I were a senator, I would listen to the President because this (economic amendments to the Constitution) is our (Congress’) Valentine’s gift to him; this is for the good of the country, and only for the economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution and that is very, very clear in Senate Resolution of Both Houses 6,” Gonzales reiterated.
