VARIOUS quarters acknowledged that the national government’s housing program is one of the best practical solutions to growing homelessness in the country.

Dubbed the “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH)” program, it calls for the establishment of one million affordable dwelling units a year.

Admittedly, a concrete plan of action is required to carry out an effective housing program for the benefit of the millions of homeless Filipinos across the Philippines.

Reports said the six-year 4PH is one of the priority programs of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s government.

The program aims to build houses near facilities that are needed to have a productive life, adding many families are expected to benefit from these comfortable and affordable houses.

To ensure the success of the six-year housing program, the government is closely working with local government units (LGUs) in various parts of the country.

Leading the implementation of the program is the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

Under the program, the agency has so far signed more than `150 memoranda of understanding (MOU), which will be carried out in 28 locations across the country.

Last July 3, President Marcos led the inspection of a housing project in San Fernando City, Pampanga, where he renewed commitment to address the housing backlog in the country.

Located in Barangay Del Carmen, the Crystal Peak States is a 9.8-hectare housing project that can shelter more than 8,300 families, both from the public and private sectors.

They also include overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as well as police and military personnel.

Doubtless, the government of President Marcos, through the DHSUD), is doing a great job in responding to the increasing backlog of housing un its in the country.
