Housemaid found mauled to death
POLICE investigators arrested an account manager and her housemaid for allegedly mauling to death another housemaid who was found submerged in a swimming pool in a condominium unit in Quezon City on Sunday.
A report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District showed the body of the victim identified ad Joan Sotayco, was discovered at about 5:30 a.m. on November 7, 2021, in the swimming pool located at the 6th floor of the Victoria Towers Condominium located along Panay Avenue corner Timog Avenue, Barangay Paligsahan.
Investigation conducted by P/Corporal Nico Gevero of the QCPD-CIDU showed a security guard of the condominium building named Julius Balanquit was about to assume his post when he heard a loud thud.
The guard was then informed by building maintenance personnel Arnel Peñafracia about a female body seen submerged in the swimming pool who was later identified as the victim, a housemaid at a condominium located in the 17th floor.
Balanquit immediately sought assistance from his OIC, Francis Gargallo who called the police.
During investigation, responding officers PSsg Harry Jayson Dela Cruz and Pat Cristofer Binalay together with CIDU investigators assisted by witnesses proceeded ti the 17th floor where the victim worked as a housemaid.
However, the employer of the victim identified as Totel Lozada, reportedly refused to cooperate prompting the policemen to scrutinize the cellular phones of the suspect for investigation.
A video of the victim showed her both hands tied with masking tape. Another video showed Lozada and another housemaid who is a minor cleaning the crime scene after trimming the hair of the victim.
Police then accosted the employer and the minor suspect.
Cursory examination on the body showed she sustained lacerations and multiple bruises on her face and head.
Also recovered from the condominium unit of the suspect were a pair of scissors, a roll of bandage and masking tape.
