High-value criminals
THE government is a long way from ridding this Southeast Asian nation of high-value criminals (HVCs) and wanted persons.
And we are made to believe that the wanted persons include foreign fugitives, including online scammers, who are hiding in the Philippines.
Last Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) ordered all police units to further intensify their drive against HVCs and wanted persons.
Described as timely. the order is part of the broader campaign to enhance national security, according to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
Likewise, General Marbil said “this is to ensure a safer environment for all citizens in all cities and municipalities across the country.”
The hardworking PNP chief said that “our paramount objective is the safety and security of every Filipino family and community.”
Of course, we commend the government and the PNP leadership for ensuring that our citizens can live without fear and in peace.
And we agree with Marbil that accounting for all wanted persons and HVCs is vital considering the ongoing preparations for next year’s elections.
The nation’s more than 60 million registered voters go to the polls on May 12, 2025 for the off-season national and local elections.
Talagang dapat masakote ang lahat ng mga HVCs at wanted persons bago pa mang magsimula ang election campaign period.
