BATAAN CAPITOL – In its bid to attain total “herd immunity”, the provincial government of Bataan, led by Governor Joet S. Garcia, has offered a total of P6.7 million prizes to encourage Bataeños to avail of the free COVID-19 vaccine.

Bataan joins the Department of Health (DOH) in the launching nationwide Monday of massive vaccination against the coronavirus disease, which appears to have surged back in the past few weeks.

Garcia said the “PinasLakas ang Boosted na Bataeño: Bakunahan Bayanihan sa Barangay” will run from Aug. 15 to Oct. 28 and the provincial government offers raffle prizes amounting to P6.7 million.

The prizes, Garcia pointed out, will be awarded to those who avail of vaccination for the first and second doses and first and second booster shots in any inoculation sites in the province.

During the time of former governor now congressman Abet Garcia, the province had offered free rice to those who availed of the vaccination.

According to the governor, prizes at stake weekly are a cellphone for one winner, P10,000 each to two winners, and P5,000 each to three winners. On October 31, a grand raffle will be drawn with P100,000 for one winner, P50,000 each for two winners, and P25,000 each for three winners.

Garcia said the project aims to complete the booster doses for the remaining target population in the province in the wake of face-to-face classes and to strengthen their immunity and prevent severe symptoms of COVID-19.
