
GenTri to hold ‘Caracol’ dance contest for fiesta
GENERAL TRIAS CITY, (GenTri) Cavite – The local government here under Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV through the City Tourism Office launched the “Caracol Dance Contest” to add color and to give a vibrant traditional street dance to the eve of the town fiesta of their patron St. Francis of Assisi, every 4th day of October.
With the return of face-to-face Caracol, which has not occurred for more than two years due to the implemented health and safety protocol upon the entry of the pandemic in the country, the said celebration is expected to be lively with the addition of the dance contest to make the celebration even more fun.
The contest is open to all residents of General Trias, composed of 12 to 25 members that will dance to the beat of the Caracol tune from the start of the parade up to the end that will roam around the loop of the city proper on Oct. 2, 2022.
The GenTri LGU (local government unit) provided a P15,000 cash prize for the 1st place, P10,000 cash for the 2nd prize, and P5,000 for the 3rd place winner.
While the traditional “Pabinyagan ng Alagang Hayop” – more locally known as “Pabialahay” is being brought back again on Oct. 1, 2022, in front of the historic church of St. Francis of Assisi in the town square after the 7 a.m. morning mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Oliver Genuino, parish priest of the said parish.
The blessing of the residents’ pets here did not occur for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In cooperation with the local government and GenTri City Agriculture Office under Neri Marquez, there will be an anti-rabies vaccination for all pets right after the pet blessing.
There will be a dog show and “drive-thru” pet blessing will be held at Maple Grove Park along Centennial Road, Barangay Tejero, at 2:00 p.m. (Oct. 1, 2022).
Feast Day Misa Concelebrada with Imus Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista is scheduled on October 4, 2022, at 9:30 in the morning, procession right after the mass and fiesta day mass schedules are 6:00 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. – while the schedule of mass baptism at 11:00 a.m.
The grand procession for the feast day celebration will be on Oct. 5, 2022, at 7:00 in the evening, and fireworks in the nightcap.
Fiesta Day concert at the city plaza will be held on Oct. 4, 2002, featuring Kerplunk, Sarile, Nemic, Love Eat Pray, Loud Cry, Bostom, Parabellum, Peste Terminator, Insekto, Silently Loud and Early Birds and the Palompo’s, and Rappers Rapido, Batang Rebelde, JPhilly and B.O.N.
