PHILIPPINE Ambassador to Japan Mylene J. Garcia-Albano invited Japanese travelers to choose and visit the Philippines, saying “endless discoveries” await them anywhere they go in the country.

The Ambassador extended her invitation to the Japanese during a press conference on Wednesday, April 18, 2023 organized by Cebu Pacific to announce the resumption of its Narita-Cebu and Narita-Clark routes in May 2023.

She asked Japanese outbound travelers to “choose [the] Philippines because we offer an unforgettable experience, with our much renowned Filipino hospitality. Choose Philippines because our tropical climate and the wonders of our nature will surely captivate your senses. Choose Philippines because of the endless discoveries that await you in our more than 7,100 islands.”

In her remarks, Garcia-Albano recognized the vital role of tourism in the Philippines’ economic resurgence in a post-COVID-19 world, adding that “the Philippines welcomes with open arms Japanese visitors who are looking for a getaway for diving, health and wellness, and English language education, among other offerings. Through partners such as Cebu Pacific, we hope to promote the Philippines as a destination of choice for Japanese outbound travelers, especially as we approach the Golden Week holidays.”

Cebu Pacific suspended its Cebu and Clark routes at the height of border closures following the World Health Organization’s (WHO) declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic in March 2020.

Aside from announcing the resumption of these routes, Cebu Pacific also presented its expansion plans and introduced campaigns to promote the Philippines as the travel destination of choice.

Garcia-Albano was joined by Cebu Pacific President COO Alexander Lao and Country Manager Tomohiko Matsumoto.
