Free hospitalization for PDEA agents wounded in action
THE Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center run by the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. on Wednesday renewed its vow to provide free medical treatment for any agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency who will be wounded in the line of duty.
PDEA chair, Director General Isagani R. Nerez and PCCCAI president, Dr. Kelly H. Sia signed the memorandum of agreement at the CGHMC Medical Arts Building following a series of talks.
Nerez thanked the PCCCAI and CGHMC officials for continuing to support the government’s campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse in a much different way, which is providing free medical aid for any of their men who are injured while going after ‘armed and dangerous’ drug traffickers in the country.
Director General Nerez was joined by top PDEA officials led by Deputy Director General for Operations Renato A. Gumban in meeting Sia and PCCAI officers.
PCCAI officials include Mr. Antonio Tan, Dr. Benito Goyokpin, Mr. Eduardo Uy, Mr. Edison Sy, Mr. Florante Dy, and Mr. Alberto Tan Lee.
The agreement between CGHMC and PDEA provides free medical treatment and other health-related services to PDEA officers and personnel.
This includes hospitalization and surgery and major operations for injuries sustained while on duty, as well as the use of its medical equipment and facilities, from admission to discharge of PDEA operatives hurt in the performance of their duties.
The CGHMC has a long-standing history of providing free medical services to various government agencies and the public.
