Ferrer leads Gen. Trias inaugural session

GENERAL TRIAS CITY (GenTri), Cavite – Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV led the inaugural session presided over by Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen held in front of the newly elected councilors and department heads on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the session hall of the City Hall building in Barangay Bagumbayan here.

Returning Mayor Jon Jon Ferrer presented his future programs and projects over 100 days and throughout the year as the mayor of the historic city of General Trias, intending to work to further the city’s development.

Ferrer mainly discussed his “priority” programs towards a better “quality of life” for each Gentriseño, such as health, education, environment, social services, and peace and order.

According to Ferrer, priorities on health are rehabilitating health centers in 33 barangays to ensure adequate medicines, providing maintenance medicines to all senior citizens, and building a “Super Health Center” in the largest barangay in San Francisco.

“We will install modern X-ray machines, ECG machines, we will provide privilege cards for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and Homeowners Association (HOA) for their free annual check-up,” Mayor Ferrer IV said.

“We will add a dialysis hub in Barangay Santiago and Manggahan, appoint doctors in every barangay in the city, and liaise with private hospitals for emergency cases that GenTri LGU [local government unit] will answer the downpayment of each patient,” Ferrer added.

For education, the mayor said that they will continue the scholarship grants to qualified and deserving students, distribution of educational assistance from grade school, high school, and college coed, granting incentives to honor students and board and Bar topnotchers, establish senior high school (SHS) building in Bgy. Biclatan to cater to the students in the upper part of the city in Bgy. Javalera, Biclatan, and Panungyanan.

The GenTri LGU will also provide service vehicles to each public school to use in their school activities, continue the free school supplies to public school students, and work for the free uniform to each public school student.

Ferrer also added that the LGU plans to establish a technical and vocational school and a modern city library.

“Our medical and burial assistance, we will make a point na makuha agad ito sa loob ng 3-days at magkaroon ng de kalidad at maayos na burol sa mga namatayan, na may magandang serbisyo na maibibigay sa mga namatayan,” Ferrer said.

“We will establish the Tourism Hub to revitalize our historical sites, conduct cultural programs and place the museum that we plan to do in the ancestral house of the Sarayba, and add a recreational park in our city besides Gen. Trias Senior Citizen Park in Barangay San Juan,” Ferrer said.

Ferrer also mentioned supporting peace and order and the police and barangay police force as the city’s “force multiplier”, providing ambulances to all barangays, installing tricycle and jeep terminals as the local government will conduct road clearing operations.

Ferrer is also eyeing a new city hall building in the next two years and a proper and effective housing program for all city hall employees and DepEd (Department of Education) General Trias.

At the end of the program, Vice Mayor Labuguen promised that Mayor Ferrer will be able to count on the full support of the city council.
