A FEMALE school personnel was nabbed by Pasig City Police for charges of 80 counts of qualified theft after she allegedly pocketed money from tuition fees of students.

Pasig Police chief, PCol Hendrix Mangaldan, said the suspect identified as one alias Berna, 28, of Bgy .Rosario, Pasig City, was arrested in her sister’s house Friday morning in Angeles, Pampanga City.

The suspect, who was tagged as No.6 Top Most Wanted Person in Eastern Police District (EPD) was collared by members of Pasig Police Sub-Station 8 (Manggahan Station) headed by PCapt. Joey Ibanez, who had been tailing her for several years.

The arrest was based on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Katherine Au Go, of the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 152 for a case of 80 counts of Qualified Theft dated February 2021.

According to Ibanez, the suspect used her position as Administration personnel of a school located in Bgy. Rosario, Pasig, in collecting tuition fee payments of students that enabled her to eventually steal the cash amounting to more than P700,000.

The management of the school found out that the suspect failed to remit the tuition fee payment.

The school administration filed charges, and a warrant of arrest was issued against her.

Capt Ibanez, said tracker teams of Manggahan Police launched the manhunt operations against the suspect, who had been elusive as she often transferred residence from one place to another.

“Nalaman namin na nagtatago sya sa Pampanga, nagpanggap yun isang police namin na magdadala sa kanya ng National ID nun tinanggap nya ito sa kanyang pinagtataguan sa bahay ng kapatid nya doon na namin inihain yung kanyang warrant of arrest,” Ibanez told Journal Group.

A P2.2 million bail was recommended by the court for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
