Fake dentist caught performing dental procedure in Caloocan
AUTHORITIES arrested an allegedly fake dentist who was caught performing a dental procedure on a poseur-patient inside her clinic before noon Friday in Caloocan City.
Northern Police District District- Special Operations Unit (NPD-DSOU) head P/Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal identified the arrested suspect as Marian Meneses, an insurance agent and resident of 804 Heroes Del 96, Bgy 73, Zone 7, Caloocan City.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed before the office of NPD Director P/BGen. Jose Hidalgo, Jr. by the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) following information about the alleged illegal practice being performed by Meneses inside her house which served as her dental clinic.
Hidalgo instructed Dimaandal to verify the complaint and after operatives confirmed the report, an entrapment operation, led by P/Lt. Melito Pabon, was conducted at around 11:15 a.m., with a dentist from PDA, identified as Dr. Narisa Ragos, who acted as a poseur-patient.
While Meneses was performing a dental procedure on Dr. Ragos, who was accompanied by a police decoy, a pre-arranged signal was received by Lt. Pabon and his men that resulted in the arrest of the bogus dentist.
Police confiscated from the suspect several dental materials like upper impression tray, alginate impression, alginate powder, plasterspatula, mouth mirror and record chart.
The suspect also failed to present legal documents to operate her dental clinic like certificate of registration, professional identification card and others and opted to remain silent.
A case for violation of R.A 9484 otherwise known as The Philippine Dental Act of 2007 will be filed by police against the suspect before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
