Fake cop nabbed for indiscriminate firing

A CIVILIAN who introduced himself as a policeman was arrested in Imus City, Cavite.

Acting Imus police chief Lt. Col. Noel Calapatia said nabbed was Leo Mendoza, 41, of Barcelona, Bgy. Buhay na Tubig, Imus City.

Prior to the arrest, the suspect was accused of firing his gun indiscriminately in Bgy. Buhay na Tubig.

Members of the Imus City Police Station responded to a call, resulting in Mendoza’s arrest.

At the police station, the suspect identified himself as SPO2 Leo Mendoza, an alleged AWOL PNP personnel.

Upon verification, it turned out that Mendoza is not included in the list of the Personnel Accounting Information System of the PNP.

Confiscated from the suspect was a cal. 45 pistol, three fired cartridges for the same gun, assorted PNP uniforms, and government issued IDs.

Charges for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code (usurpation of authority), Article 179 of the RPC (Illegal used of Insignias) and alarm and scandal were filed against Mendoza.
