ERWIN TULFO TO PUSH SUPPORT FOR THE WELFARE OF PDLs, THEIR FAMILIES
ACT-CIS Partylist Representative and Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas candidate for senator Erwin Tulfo intends to again meet with the families of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and discuss with them their grievances and suggestions on the welfare of the prisoners.
Among the issues raised by the members of AID DALAW Nationwide Movement was the continued detention of their relative PDLs even after they have already completed serving their sentence, the slow processing for their release, and the lack of medical assistance given to PDLs who are sick and others.
According to the group, aside from their loved ones who are PDLs, thousands of other prisoners continue to be detained even beyond their prison sentence.
A member of AID-DALAW shared that a PDL remains in prison up to the present even if the person has already completed serving the years in prison, and that is why the member has been repeatedly going back to court and seeking assistance.
While another member, who was previously a PDL, narrated that even after completing the prison sentence, he still needs a writ of habeas corpus in order to be released.
It can be recalled that AID DALAW first went to Tulfo in December 2024. The group is made up of around 1,200 family members of PDLs who are detained at the maximum-security, minimum-security, medium-security, and even in other penal colonies in the country.
