ERJHS cagefest: T2000, Team 80s in big starts

MULTI-TITLED T2000 defeated Batch 2003, 97-74 and Team 80s crushed Batch 90’s, 76-46, at the start of 2025 ERJHS Alumni Summer League at the Malaya covered court on Brgy NS Amoranto, Sta Mesa Heights, Quezon City.

T2000 drew big games from new recruit Michael Favis, Matt Caguisa, Joseph Bognot, Jeff Caguisa and Jay Santiago to launch its title-retention bid on a high note in this tournament organized by Alumni Sports Club in cooperation with the ERJHS Alumni Association.

Roberto Castor Rover Scout chairperson Fe Castor Pangan made the ceremonial toss after the short opening program.

Favis, who was named as “Best Player of the Game” finished with a game-high 21 points to lead T2000.

M.Caguisa added 18 points, Bognot had 16 points, J.Caguisa had 14 points and Santiago contributed 10 points.

Eduard Cabangcang and Dante Cabanting combined for 35 points for Batch 2003 of playing coach Roger Capistrano.

Team 80s of coach Arnold Tanare rode on the hot hands of Mike Gomez, who exploded with a tournament-high 35 points in beating Batch 90s.

Gomez, one of the team’s more- experienced players, was later named as “Best Player of the Game”.

Gomez was joined in the scoring parade by Joseph Magpantay and Joseph Realista, who finished with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

. Billy Bernardino topscored with 16 pointsfor Batch 90s of Don Bugarin and Ronald Chavez.

In the third game Dekada Nobenta downed Batch 89, 57-52.

Best Player of the Game awardee Rayzie Dela Rosa fired 19 points for Dekada Nobenta of playing coach Robert Capistrano and Philip Sta Maria.

Alvin Tanare carried the fight for Batch 89 with 19 points.

The month-long tournament is supported by Batch 85 Sports Club, Wang’s Ballclub, Kelme Basketball, Ping-Ping Lechon, Brgy N.S. Amoranto and Quezon City Congressman Arjo Atayde.
