Eleazar forms Command Group
PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Saturday formed his Command Group, all officers with good track record and service reputation who will assist him in running and supervising the daily affairs of the 210,000-strong police force.
The 56th PNP chief appointed Lieutenant Gen. Joselito M. Vera Cruz as the new PNP Deputy Chief for Administration or the 2nd top PNP official while Lt. Gen. Israel Ephraim T. Dickson is the new PNP Deputy Chief for Operations, the 3rd in the PNP hierarchy.
Lt. Gen. Dionardo B. Carlos is the new PNP The Chief Directorial Staff or TCDS, otherwise known as the ‘bastonero’ of the organization. Carlos is now the 4thhighest official in the PNP.
Both Lt. Generals Vera Cruz and Dickson are classmates from Philippine Military Academy ‘Hinirang’ Class of 1987 of Gen. Eleazar while Carlos is from the PMA ‘Maringal’ Class of 1988.
As PNP-TCDS, Lt. Gen. Carlos, the most senior among those who were selected for the post will supervise the operations of the 10 PNP Directorial Staff.
There is still no official word on who will replace Carlos as director of the PNP Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Visayas although Journal Group sources said Gen. Eleazar is set to pick a two-star general for the post which will qualify him for promotion to 3-star general.
The PNP chief has tapped the help of his Command Group in assessing the performance of key PNP officials specifically Police Regional Office directors and directors of the different PNP National Operational and Administrative Support Units for the past six months.
Sources said that expected to be relieved are some officials who have performed way beyond expectations and were the subject of complaints from their own men.
Gen. Eleazar on Saturday held his first command conference at Camp Crame where he ordered all his police regional directors and commanders of National Support Units to effectively implement his Intensified Cleanliness Policy or ICP particularly in the cleanliness of all police precincts, stations and offices.
He also directed his commanders to effectively supervise their mn in the campaign against street crimes, illegal drugs, communist insurgency and terrorism.
