E-sabong’s return to be professional, controlled

THE much-awaited return of eSabong will be professional and controlled to allay public fears against its negative effects on society.

This was the assurance of Gamefowl Affiliates of Pitmasters-Philippines Batangas president Fermin Solis as he bared that he sees the industry’s potentials to grow immensely.

Solis said he acknowledges that there are laws to be followed as far as eSabong is concerned to prove that the said industry is truly professional.

“Lahat naman ng bagay ay tama na mayroon dapat regulasyon, sapagkat tayo ay pumapasailalim sa batas. At maganda na rin naman na bagaman marami ang nakikinabang sa industriya ng [eSabong]… dapat mapatupad ang tamang regulasyon,” said Solis in a press conference held at Pitmasters Live.

He added that eSabong will thrive, thanks to modern technology and the use of advanced equipment.

“Talagang nakatutulong ang modernong paraan [sa pag-unlad ng industriya ng eSabong],” he added.

Solis also said that a professional eSabong will be greatly beneficial to veterinarians, feed supplies and other industrirs as it will give jobs and sources of livelihood to people from different walks of life.

Meanwhile, GAPP Bulacan President Maw Acierto, said investments amd bets placed in eSabong should be controlled as it was designed to be source of livelihood.

He stated that investments should be used properly and responsibly to prove that the eSabojg industry is truly professional and not just like any other form of gambling.

“Lahat lang po sana ilagay lang sa tamang lugar, sa tamang kontrol. Sigurado naman táyong ang GAPP…ay patuloy na mag-iimprovise ‘yan to continuously professionalize itong ating industriya,” said Acierto.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation had earlier sought an independent regulator for eSabong due to enormous amount of money it involves.

Among the regulations being proposed are setting specific playing hours and controlled bets for eSabong. A continued implementation of these regulations will result in increased public trust and confidence in the industry.

The government earned some P640 million monthly from eSabong in 2022.ang PAGCOR collected P2.03 bilyon during the first six months of the year, sa unang according to PAGCOR Chairman and Chief Executive Andrea Domingo.
