‘Drug courier’shot dead in Las Piñas
A 35-YEAR-OLD woman was shot dead by a lone gunman riding on a bicycle Tuesday evening in Las Piñas City.
Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said the victim from Bernabe Compound, Bgy. Pulang Lupa died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the body, while the still unidentified suspect immediately fled in an unknown direction after the killing.
Initial investigation conducted by P/Cpl. Leo John Martinez and P/Cpl. Rey Fejay Solas showed that while the victim was walking in Bernabe Compound at around 11:30 p.m., a bicycle-riding man shot her twice in the body for a still unknown reason.
Police are looking into the possibility that the killing may be linked to a drug deal “gone sour” following the disclosure of the victim’s brother that her sister was not only “hooked on drugs” but most of the time was being instructed to deliver shabu to a certain buyer.
Jonathan said he usually reminded his sister to stop her illegal activities or she would “end up dead” or may land in jail, but the latter ignored his warning.
He also blamed the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs in Bernabe Compound, where his sister resides, resulting in her untimely death.
Responding elements of Zapote Police Sub-Station recovered two empty shells of the unknown caliber of a firearm from the crime scene and submitted them to the SPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
Macaraeg said Las Piñas Police Chief P/Col. Jaime Santos already instructed his men to conduct a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspect.
