DPWH fast tracks construction of modular hospital in LCP
THE Department of Public Works and Highways continue to support the demand for healthcare service as it ramped up hospital construction project at the Lung Center of the Philippines.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Health Facilities will further boost the LCP healthcare system’s capacity with the expected completion of three modular hospital cluster units with a total of 66 isolation patient rooms by end of June 2021.
Villar said the facilities will enable LCP to treat more Covid-19 patients considered severe and critical conditions.
Undersecretary and Task Force Head Emil K. Sadain reported that electrical, ventilation and other hospital systems and equipment are now being installed and tested on these three (3) hospital cluster units.
Construction workers have been working around the clock to get the facility completed inasmuch as delivery of the much needed additional hospital rooms will allow earlier occupation to support the increased demand for LCP emergency care of Covid-19 patients.
Additional two cluster units with 44 rooms are targeted for completion in July. Of the two units, one cluster will be devoted specifically for Intensive Care Units (ICU) dedicated for patients who require high levels of medical care and complex treatment.
When all completed, the five (5) cluster units of modular hospital will offer 110 hospital beds at a site that is directly adjacent to the LCP main hospital along Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
The DPWH had also given special attention to the accommodation or billeting needs of hospital workers with the construction of 16-room dormitory.
To be finished this July, the dormitory is equipped with double decker beds to benefit 32 people.
