GAGAMIT ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng isang state-of-the-art research vessel na tinatawag na OceanXplorer upang ma-assess ang kalusugan at diversity ng pangisdaan sa bansa.

Ito ay matapos na lumagda si DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. at ang global ocean exploration nonprofit na OceanX sa pangunguna ni co-chief executive officer Mark Dalio, sa isang memorandum of understanding (MOU) para sa naturang proyekto.

Ayon kay Tiu Laurel, isang mahalagang hakbang ang naturang MOU para sa pagpapalakas ng collaboration effort upang maalagaan at maunawaang mabuti ang mga karagatan sa mundo.

Sa ilalim ng kasunduan, magkatuwang na magtatrabaho ang dalawang partido upang matupad ang kanilang layunin na maiayos ang pag-aaral, proteksiyon at sustainable development ng marine ecosystems.

Sinabi pa ng kalihim na inaasahang magbibigay ng kakaibang scientific exploration sa ating bansa ang naturang kolaborasyon, na nakatuon sa paglalarawan ng mayamang marine ecology ng bansa.

Binigyang-diin ni Tiu Laurel ang potensiyal ng long-term benefits sa bansa ang naturang pagsasaliksik.

“The data we gather will provide invaluable insights into our marine resources, our vast coastline, and the unique biodiversity we hold. It will help us devise better strategies for preserving and optimizing these resources for future generations,” ani Tiu Laurel.

Sinabi naman ni Dalio na may kapasidad ang research vessel sa pagtuklas ng komplikadong marine data.

“At OceanX, we believe that cutting-edge technology combined with meaningful collaboration can unlock the mysteries of the ocean and provide actionable insights for sustainable resource management. Our partnership with the Department of Agriculture exemplifies how science and innovation can come together to create a long-term impact, not only in understanding marine ecosystems but also in supporting communities that depend on them,” paliwanag ni Dalio.
