Creamline stakes solo lead vs F2
CREAMLINE and F2 Logistics, two of the country’s most decorated clubs in the past five years, finally meet in the Premier Volleyball League at the fabled Smart Araneta Coliseum.
While the Cool Smashers are already through the Reinforced Conference semifinals, the Cargo Movers are fighting for one of the two remaining berths up for grabs.
Coming off a 25-23, 20-25, 25-12, 32-30 victory over erstwhile unbeaten Chery Tiggo in Santa Rosa last Saturday, Creamline skipper Alyssa Valdez is looking forward for her team to keep on pushing and not be contented by its perfect 5-0 record.
“We’ll work harder definitely. Siyempre yung expectations from ourselves from our team mas tumataas din as we go this conference so we’ll work harder and hopefully we balance the enjoyment, having fun, and being competitive,” said Valdez.
The race for the last two slots remains hanging in the balance, as PetroGazz currently sits in third place with a 3-1 record.
Locked in a tie with Cignal in fourth place at 2-2, F2 Logistics is coming off a long two-week break after beating PLDT, 25-19, 25-22, 25-20, last October 25.
The Cargo Movers were supposed to play the Cargo Movers in Santa Rosa last October 29, but the match was postponed due to Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng”.
That opened an opportunity for F2 Logistics to have more recovery time to several hurting key players, including ace Kalei Mau, who missed the previous match.
Stung by last Thursday’s loss to newcomer Akari, Choco Mucho tries to wheel back in semifinals contention as it clashes with already-eliminated United Auctioneers Inc.-Army at 2:30 p.m. to usher in the league’s first-ever matchday at the Big Dome.
Trailing the Cargo Movers and the HD Spikers by half-a-game, the Flying Titans (2-3) cannot afford any missteps from now on if they want to make it past the preliminary round.
Winless in five matches, the Lady Troopers are simply eyeing to finish the season strong.
