THE number of Good Samaritans at the Philippine National Police (PNP( continues to grow. Add to their ranks the officers and men of the Ifugao Provincial Police Office and the Banaue Municipal Police Station who turned over a newly-constructed home to a single mother and her daughter who lost their house to a fire.

PNP chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar lauded the Cordillera policemen for their latest good deed which has been praised by netizens.

This after a grateful Nanay Benita Mannod excitedly moved in with her daughter to their new home at Sitio Nabnong, Barangay Batad in Banaue on Wednesday, said Cordillera Police Regional Office director, Brigadier Gen. Ronald O. Lee.

Nanay Benita was a beneficiary of the Banaue Municipal Police Station’s “Bahay ng Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko” project which aims to provide decent housing to qualified recipients in the town.

Construction materials are obtained from donations of police personnel from the Banaue MPS, other Cordillera police units and other stakeholders, Lee reported to Gen. Eleazar.

The official said that members l of the Banaue MPS including policewomen known as the “Muscle Ladies” started to build the house for Nanay Benita last March 16 with the help of other residents of Sitio Nabnong.

Nanay Benita is the second beneficiary of the Banaue MPS project, he said.

The Cordillera policemen’s feat did not fail to catch the attention of Gen. Eleazar who lauded the Ifugao policemen led by Major Michael Dangilan for their worthy housing project for the poor.

“Hindi man bahagi ng kanilang pang araw-araw na tungkulin, nakatutuwang naglaan ng pondo, oras, at pawis ang ating mga kapulisan para mabigyan ng maayos na tirahan si Nanay Benita at ang kanyang anak. Napakagandang initiative ito ng Banaue MPS,” Gen. Eleazar said.

“Sana’y gayahin ito ng iba nating mga police stations at patuloy kayong makaisip at makapagtaguyod ng iba’t-ibang proyekto na tutugon sa pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” he added.
