Construction worker held for indiscriminate firing

POLICE the other day arrested a construction worker for illegally discharging a short handgun in Barangay Gulod, Calatagan, Batangas.

Calatagan Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief P/Maj. Serafin T. Gapunuan reported to Batangas Police Director P/Col. Pedro D. Soliba that the suspect was seen around 10:00 p.m. (Oct. 6) in the village vicinity firing a handgun which created a commotion.

The town police top cop immediately dispatched authorities to the area, and they saw the suspect roaming with the handgun in his hand.

When checked for the validity to carry the firearm, the suspect failed to present any documents on the handgun, which resulted in his arrest and recovery of one unknown make of cal. .45 pistol (high cap) with a chamber loaded, an inserted magazine containing four live ammo, a gun holster, and one extra magazine loaded with seven more live bullets for the same caliber.

The suspect will be facing charges of violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
