PERSONNEL of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking rescued nine alleged female human trafficking victims in an entrapment operation in Tacloban City.

Two suspects were arrested. They were identified as Jason Pambojan alias “Kara,” a 24-year-old standup comedian and hairdresser; and Khrisha Alvarez, 25, both from Tacloban City.

Rescued were nine females, including a 16-year-old girl.

Investigstion showed the victims were offered for sex for a fee on social media sites.

The victims were allegedly sold like commodities online. Their pictures were posted with corresponding price tags on a social media site.

Seized during the operation were condoms and boodle money.

Charges for violation of Section 6, Republic Act 10364 (Qualified Trafficking in Person Act) were filed against the arrested suspects.

The rescued victims are now under the custody of the Tacloban City Social Welfare Office.
