What is to expect in Libera’s Christmas album:

Timeless Christmas repertoire consists of six tracks never previously recorded by the vocal band, new arrangements of 14 traditional carols and of Danny Boy, and two bonus tracks. Once in royal David’s city and Exsultate. The music content of the audio and video versions is identical and the DVD programme contains documentary features as well.

The band’s membership changes regularly, as older boys’ voices break and they move on, making room for new members. Libera has an original sound, it’s music combining elements of Gregorian chant, classical composers and contemporary pop and new age music, mainly arrangements by Prizeman. Libera’s mystical chord and shimmering harmonies have inspired audiences across the generations and across the globe. They typically perform in flowing white robes.

Libera reached # 1 in the UK, Japanese and Philippine classical charts; in the United States, the release went to # 2. Libera’s video for Going Home, from their PBS special, has had over two million hits on YouTube. Libera is currently the best selling group of it’s kind, reflecting the surge of interest in choirs as a result of television shows such as Last Choir Standing and Glee.

They provided the soundtrack for the popular 2008 Waitrose Christmas TV advertising campaign.

In the US, Libera has made numerous concert tours and television appearances, including a nationwide PBS special, a tribute to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys at the Kennedy Center Honors, a Papal Mass at New York’s Yankee Stadium before a capacity congregation of 65,000 and on Hour of Power, transmitted via television and internet to millions of viewers around the world.

In 2013, Libera performed in South Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, Libera’s member Luca will have a concert on November 22 at Auditorium – RCBC Plaza. This is the first solo concert of Luca produced by Roberto F. De Ocampo and Veterans Bank. By REMY UMEREZ.
