SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — Anti-illegal drug operatives on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old chainsaw operator in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of about P9,000 worth of marijuana in this town.

In a report to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Ferdinand D. Germino, town police head Maj. Ahmed Czar A. Anuary said his men, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested the suspect, a resident of Sitio Riverside, Gapan City, after selling a plastic sachet containing marijuana worth P500 to an undercover operative in Bgy. Poblacion at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

After a body search, authorities also seized three plastic sachets containing the same illegal stuff, which had an estimated weight of 7.3 grams and a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P8,760.

Also seized was the suspect’s tricycle used in the illicit operation.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) have been filed against the arrested suspect before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cabanatuan City.

“Drug addiction and the illegal drug trade are twin challenges that threaten the fabric of our society. I urge everyone to recognize the devastating impact these issues have on our communities,” said Germino.

He directed his men to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and to stand firm against these menaces in line with the strict directives of Police Regional Office 3 director Brig.Gen. Redrito A. Maranan.
