On March 21, as “World Poetry Day” is celebrated, Kamuning Bakery advanced the celebration a day before as “Pandesal Forum” invited National Artist for Literature Dr. Gemino Abad and award-winning poet Dr. Vim Nadera. They will be joined by other young poets.
From reality TV to pageant world

FORMER “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Kai Espenido has submitted her application to this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
Her agency, Reign Project Management, made the announcement through an Instagram post last Tuesday.
“PBB’s Brave Island Girl ng Siargao” is setting her sights on apparently bigger wave.
“Once a proud housemate in ‘PBB Kumunity Season 10’ (2022), she is now ready to conquer the world of pageantry as she vies for a spot in Binibining Pilipinas 2025,” said the post.
For her part, Espenido expressed her excitement on Instagram Stories. “On to the next chapter, I am thrilled.”
Espenido was the second teen evictee in “PBB Kumunity Season 10,” that had Anji Salvacion as big winner.
Espenido won Miss Fit Philippines, her first national pageant in 2024.
Meanwhile, Binibining Pilipinas started its new search for the next batch of queens this year.
Organizers made the announcement on the pageant’s social media pages early this month. Applications may be submitted via e-mail or in person at the Binibining Pilipinas office in Quezon City until March 21.
“For 61 years, Binibining Pilipinas has crowned icons, empowered voices and set the stage for greatness. Will you be the next Binibini to wear the crown?,” read the post.
Last year’s edition of the national pageant crowned four queens – Myrna Esguerra (Binibining Pilipinas International), Jasmine Bungay (Binibining Pilipinas Globe), Christal de la Cruz (first runner-up) and Trisha Martinez (second runner-up).
Esguerra is set to compete in this year’s Miss International competition. She will ai for the Philippines’ seventh crown.
Bungay, on the other hand, finished second runner up in Miss Globe 2024, won by Diana Moreno of Colombia. The two were recently united during Moreno’s Manila visit as part of her tour as the reigning title holder.
In previous editions, Binibining Pilipinas sent representatives to Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Grand International.
