A FISH cargo plane successfully made an emergency landing at Sangley Airport on Sunday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported.

CAAP Spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the fish cargo plane was ATR aircraft BE58 with registry number RPC 5916.

Apolonio said the aircraft was bound to Cuyo, Palawan, to pick fish before returning to Sangley Airport.

While airborne, the pilot, Capt. Jesse Bihasa and co-pilot James Patrick Bala noticed something wrong with the right landing gear of the aircraft that prompted them to return to Sangley Airport considering the airport has complete facilities and personnel in emergency situations.

Apolonio said with the assistance of alert and experienced personnel of Sangley airport Capt. Bihasa and his co-pilot successfully made an emergency landing on a grassy portion of the runway.

The pilot and his co-pilot were both unharmed and safe, according to CAAP.

“Magaling yung pilots, sa damuhan niya talaga isinadsad kaya walang masyadong damage,” said Apolonio.

The CAAP-Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board is now conducting the incident, said Apolonio.
