CAAP full alert for typhoon Egay
GUIDED by the latest tropical cyclone bulletins from Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and weather developments on the ground, typhoon watch on Tropical Storm Egay, including the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), standard precautionary actions and safety measures have been activated in all CAAP-operated airports in the path of Typhoon Egay.
Along with these preparations, CAAP Area Center 5 (Bicol Region) Manager Cynthia Tumanut said that airports in Bicol, which is frequented by typhoons, have introduced to its facilities sturdy and convenient accordion-type storm shutters to protect airport buildings from the wrath of storms and winds.
CAAP also reports that weather conditions at its North Luzon airports Basco, Itbayat, Tuguegarao, Cauayan, Palanan and Bagabag are currently fair and sunny with occasional cloudy weather.
Airport operations in the area remain normal, CAAP said.
