Bus ‘dives’ in fishpond, 10 hurt

NOVELETA, Cavite– Ten people were injured in this municipality when a mini bus fell into a fishpond after its brakes allegedly malfunctioned while crossing the Callero Bridge, Barangay San Rafael IV Monday, July 17, 2023.

Noveleta Municipal Police Office chief Major Rene Dale Cairel identified the victims as Rona Mae Fedelino, 21, of Brgy Putol, Kawit, Cavite; Rogelio Nicol II, 26, of Talaba 2, Bacoor City; Precious Joy Compio, 23, of Sineguelasan, Bacoor City; Marlon Marcial, 33, of Brgy Pugad Lawin, Maragondon; Debbie Bautista , 46, of Noveleta; Gush Lanzar, 44, of Brgy Bacao 2, Gen Trias City; Romeo Quebec, 37, of Caridad, Cavite City; Manilyn Quebec, 34, of Caridad, Cavite City; Lhenard Marralag, 6, of Caridad, Cavite City; and Nestor Tampos, the bus driver, 60, of Brgy San Jose 1, Noveleta, Cavite.

Report said the bus was running smoothly towards the Noveleta-Cavite City road when the driver lost control and hit the steel barriers and later fell into the fishpond.

Mayor Dino Chua immediately ordered a rescue operation, thus rushing the victims to the hospital and given immediate treatment.
