JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to prioritize the investigation into the alleged abuses at the state-run Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) in Laguna.

“We will help VP (Vice President) Sara (Duterte-Carpio),” Remulla said.

“Yes (I will ask the NBI to prioritize the investigation),” he continued.

NBI is the investigation arm of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Duterte-Carpio has recently asked the NBI to conduct a probe and prosecute those involved if necessary.

In a report of Vice World News, a PHSA alumni claimed abuses either committed by teachers, personnel, or fellow students.

The NBI has already created a special team of probers to investigate the alleged abuses.

“Binigay natin ang case sa isang deputy for investigation with instruction to form a special team and act with dispatch. They are directed to submit a report within seven days,” newly-appointed NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Medardo de Lemos said in a message.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has also tapped its Child Protection Unit (CPU) and the Child Rights Education Desk to conduct a similar investigation.
