Boy falls into manhole, drowns
A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy fell into a manhole and drowned while playing amid heavy downpour in Bacolod City.
The victim was identified only as Elmer Agullano, a resident of Bgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
The incident happened during heavy downpour in the city.
Elmer was playing in the rain, along with his elder brother Kent and other playmates, when he slipped and fell into an open manhole.
His “kuya” tried to save him but failed due to the strong water current in the canal that carried away the victim.
The victim’s family, along with other rescuers, searched for him inside the culvert.
Barangay Mansilingan chairman Rodolfo Pico said they took them three hours before they found the victim.
The boy’s body was retrieved some 300 meters away from where he fell. His shorts was found in the sewer.
