Boracay Caretaker arrested for explosive, gun, bullets

BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan — A caretaker was arrested yesterday after police raided his house and confiscated a grenade as well as a gun with bullets in Sitio Hagdan, Bgy. Yapak, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

Lt. Col. Don Dicksie de Dios, chief of police, identified the suspect as Donato Naris a.k.a PADS, native of Camarines Sur, and presently residing in Sitio Hagdan, Bgy. Yapak Boracay Island Malay.

In his report, Col. de Dios said operatives of the Malay PNP and other units conducted the raid and arrested the suspect on the strength of a search warrant issues by Judge Bienvenido P Barrios Jr., of the Regional Trial Court in Kalibo, Aklan.

Confiscated from the suspect were a .45 caliber pistol loaded with one live ammunition, two magazines, another 10 live ammunitions and M26 High Explosive Fragmention Grenade.

The suspect is now under the custody of Malay PNP station for documentation, proper disposition and filing of cases.

Meanwhile, an alleged drug pusher from Muntinlupa was arrested in a buy-bust in Sitio Bantud, Bgy. Manocmanon, Malay.

Lt. Col. Don Dicksie de Dios, chief of police, said Renato Banania, native of Muntinlupa, and temporarily residing in Boracay, was nabbed while trying to sell shabu to poseur policemen led by Capt. Decter Brigido, intelligence chief.

Seized from the suspect were six plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth P3,400 and the buy bust money amounting to P1,109.

The suspect was brought to the nearest hospital for physical and medical examination and later brought to the custodial facility of this station for proper documentation, added De Dios.
