SENATOR Chistopher Lawrence “Bong Go” and Secretary Eduardo del Rosario of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) have endorsed the Home Owner Party-list led by its first nominee who was a former DHSUD official.

Go gave his full support to the Home Owner Party-list, one of the newly-approved party-lists by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), particularly its three nominees, namely Aizel Buenaventura (2nd nominee), Mark Joel Morales (3rd nominee) and Leira ‘Ate Lei’ Santos-Buan, first nominee.

The senator, in a video message played during the press conference Tuesday held at a Quezon City, said he wanted to be present to show his support to the new group but he could not do because he and President Rodrigo Duterte have been focusing on relief operations for those affected by typhoon ‘Odette.’

“But my full support is with you and I know the Home Owner Party-list will be the answer to address the common problems being experienced by homeowners and their organizations,” the senator said.

Del Rosario witnessed the launching who also endorsed the new party list which he said was close to his heart since their concerns were related to DHSUD’s mandates.

Like Go, the DHSUD chief was also preoccupied with the relief operations as he has instructions from the Chief Executive, himself, to check other needs of the affected areas ravaged by Odette which he also visited.

“Despite hectic schedules I made sure to have time to be present during the launching of Home Owner Party-list because I know this is the group that will specifically look for solutions to the problems of most homeowners and their associations all over the country,” Del Rosario said.

If it gets elected, Del Rosario said the DHSUD will have its partner in responding to the concerns and needs of homeowners and their groups.

As a former DHSUD assistant secretary for regional operations, Santos-Buan had supervised all the department’s policies, projects and plans in regional offices.

She was also tasked to monitor the conduct of conciliation proceedings on issues and disputes relating to the agency’s mandates including the regulation of Real Estate Development and Homeowners’ Associations.

Among the party-list’s agenda when it gets elected in the upcoming 2022 elections was the strengthening of homeowners’ organizations, utilization of government lands for socialized housing, providing resources for urban settlement upgrading, expansion of housing finance to achieve security of tenure, earmarking resources for disaster recovery and ensuring housing as a priority of national government agencies and local government units.
