Bong Go attributes Senate conduct to energetic members of 19th Congress
EMPHASIZING the dynamic atmosphere exhibited by the current set of senators of the 19th Congress, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go spoke in defense of his colleagues explaining that the conduct in the Senate stems from the “productive energy” shared by its energetic members.
In an ambush interview after personally aiding poor residents in Tarlac City, Go expressed his respect for differing opinions while shedding light on the observations shared by former senators to the public lately.
Go assured that as a senator and a member of the 19th Congress, they remain focused on their work and maintain order in the conduct of their duties during public hearings and sessions.
“During plenary proper, naka-focus po kami sa aming trabaho at may order naman po,” he said.
While some may perceive the commotion during sessions as disruptive, Go sees it as a manifestation of productive energy. He explained, “Kung may makitang gulo sa sesyon, I see it as a productive energy. Para sa akin, productive energy po ‘yon.”
According to Go, the environment in the plenary is actually a result of senators engaging in discussions and debates related to their work.
“With energetic leadership led by Senate President (Juan Miguel) ‘Migz’ Zubiri and Senate President Pro tempore Senator Loren Legarda, puro po ‘yan energetic din. Talagang ang resulta niyan ay productive energy… (iyan) ang lalabas po sa aming pagdiskusyon doon,” said Go, believing that the passionate dedication of all senators contributes to a lively atmosphere where fruitful discussions take place.
Earlier, former Senate President Franklin Drilon has made a plea to the current senators, emphasizing the importance of maintaining proper conduct during Senate sessions and committee hearings.
Meanwhile, despite emphasizing the passion and energy of fellow senators, Go stressed the need to still maintain proper decorum in the plenary.
“Maybe sa plenary, kailangan sigurong i-tone down a bit, na kapag mayroon pong nagsasalita na kapwa senador… bilang respeto sa kapwa mambabatas… maaaring mag tone down kaming lahat na nasa gilid. Suggestion po ‘yun,” he said.
